1) HD Meeting Chats
a. If you have not done so already, please select “auto saving chats” in your HD Meeting settings (see below – in meeting basic settings). There are several benefits…one benefit is it gives you the opportunity to review the chat afterwards in case you missed anything during the session. Another benefit is how we have been using it as a “sign in” for our meetings and PD sessions.
b. Please turn off the private chat feature (see below – in meeting basic settings). We had a student issue come up in which comments were allegedly made privately between participants, which would not show up in the auto saved chats (at least that’s my understanding). While I do think there are some benefits to this feature (i.e. student reaching out to you privately without the rest of the class reading their question/concern etc., I see more issues than benefits. Until further notice, please disable it.
2) Please be advised Google Meet will be disabled at the K-5 level for students starting the evening of December 18th. There have been some security issues discovered with students and their access to this tool. Please be advised it will not be disabled for staff, just students. Please plan accordingly moving forward to use HD Meeting and follow up with me if your HD Meeting account is not working properly.
